On Friday, the 26th March 2010, at 8.30 am, the Secondary Section of St. Dominic Savio High School had the Closing ceremony of their House System. Fr. Godfrey D'Souza the Rector, Fr. Crispino D'Souza the Principal and Fr. Cyril D'Souza the Vice Principal were present from the management together with Mrs. Vidya the Supervisor of the Secondary and the staff members.
The ceremony began with a prayer dance invoking the blessings of God
Mr. Akash Rai the Senior School Captain together with the Vice Captain and Prefects and all the other Leaders of the school marched forward to the dias.

On the dias Each House Captain and Prefect said a prayer.
The Red House Prefect and Vice Captain said a prayer on Knowledge and thanked the Lord for all his blessings.
The Blue House Vice Prefect and Prefect said a pray for Discipline and all that they learned in being disciplined students, though hard sometimes.
The Green House Prefect and the Vice Prefect said a prayer for all the Activities that were had in the school and for having received the grace to achieve the best in all fields.
The Yellow House Prefect and the Vice Prefect thanked the Lord for making us more 'Humane' reaching out by sharing and caring for others.

After the prayers by the various leaders there was the handing over ceremony of the responsibilities to Fr. Rector. After the handing over ceremony there was a song of praise to thank the Lord for all his blessings.

The Prize distribution was a moment which all awaited for as there was an excitement in the air -students wanting to know which House bagged which trophies.
The best house for Studies in the Seniors was won by the GREEN HOUSE with 2450 points
The best house for Studies in the Junior section was the BLUE HOUSE with 2660 points.
The best house in DISCIPLINE in the Senior section was awarded to the YELLOW HOUSE and RED HOUSE each with 2100 points.

THE OVER ALL BEST HOUSE FOR THE YEAR 2009 - 2010 GOES TO THE YELLOW HOUSE WITH 5040 POINTS
Fr. Rector in his speech told the students that the House system is like a Relay race and each runner in the relay race has his part to play. The strategy used in the relay race is that the race begins with the second best runner and then the third best runner, then the slowest runner and finally the fastest runner. The Rector said that in the house system we have different types of people but it is important that we all do our part and strive to do our best for the sake of the team. It is not enough to start well but there must be an all round effort by every participant.
As the students would soon go on their vacation, he reminded them that they were St. Dominic Savio boys and that their behaviour even at home and during the holidays should be examplary and that they should be careful not to tarnish the good name of the school.
He wished them the best and a restful period during the holidays.
The Comperes ended with a vote of thanks to the dignitaries and the members of the staff and concluded by saying that we have crossed a distant mile, though the road was uphill. Yes, we shall take long strides for the future, there is indeed much to achieve.
