NEW BOARDERS CAMP

From Monday 3rd May to Thursday 6th May we had a camp for those youngsters who would be joining St. Dominic Savio Boys' Home as new boarders. There were 15 of them that attended the camp. These youngsters were given a run through the daily routine of a boarding with time for study, recreation, prayer, play and extra curricular actiivities such as competitions in drawing, fancy dress and singing.

We had three salesian brothers who assisted in the camp and organized the entire camp keeping the boys busy from morning till night. The brothers are students of philosophy and have finished their second year philosophy at Divyadaan, Nashik. They did a splendid job and the youngsters had a good taste of what it would be like to be in Dominic Savio Boys Home.

The last night before the boys went home, the brothers organized a short camp-fire which the boys enjoyed thoroughly, participating in the items with gusto. There were some spot prizes and prizes for the best teams that had the best advertisement, best yell and best dance.

It was a night to remember for them.

On the 6th May which was the feast of St. Dominic Savio, we had mass at 7.30 am and Fr. Godfrey who was the main celebrant gave a short homily on St. Dominic Savio. In his homily he told the youngsters that Dominic wanted to become a saint and he throught he had to make a lot of sacrifices and penances. Don Bosco called Dominic and told him that sanctity consists in being cheerful and doing one's ordinary duty in an extra ordinary way.

Dominic Savio followed the instructions of Don Bosco and became a saint. We too can become saints.

At the Eucharist
After the Eucharist the boys had some breakfast and were ready to leave for home and a number of their parents and guardians had already arrived to take them back.
