BOARDERS EVENING OUT

The students of St. Dominic Savio High School, from the primary to the IX standards, just completed their examinations on the 7th October and so did the boarders of St. Dominic Savio Boys Home. It was only fitting and proper to give them an outing after their hard work at studies the whole month. We hope their results will show the fruit of their hard work.

Fr. Blaise Fernandes the Administrator, Fr. Cyril D'Souza the Prefect of Studies of the boarders and Bro. Brenden together with the boarding masters organized this outing which was truly fun-filled and entertaining besides being very educational and enlightening.

The Nehru Planetarium at Worli

Our first stop was at the Nehru Planetarium at Worli for the 1500 hrs show. As we reached a little early, we took a quick tour at The Discovery of India to soak in the History of India and refresh our minds with historical figures and dates.

At the Nehru Centre, Worli

The Planetarium showed us a programme entitled 'Hide & Seek' in the sky and explained to us the various Constellations and some major stars and planets of the universe and other galaxies. Many of the youngsters were visiting the Planetarium for the first time and they marvelled at the beauty of what they saw and experienced.

The Nehru Science Centre

Our next trip was the Nehru Science Centre which was a place of excitement as our youngsters could go and experience for themselves by working/playing on the various exhibits in the different sections of the centre. More than 50 hands-on and interactive science exhibits on energy, sound, kinematics, mechanics, transport, etc. are installed in the science park. The boarders had a field day that took us up to 18.00 hrs. We then left for the Gateway of India. Many of the youngsters were seeing this for the first time and the magnificent Taj hotel was something that took them back to the tragedy and how things happened and why, what, when? They had a barrage of questions regarding Ratan Tata and the Taj.

Some of our young ones at the Gateway of India

We spent some time admiring the Gateway and reading the inscription on the stone above the Gateway monument and then headed back for Andheri but via the Worli Sea Link which was another wonderful experience for the boarders.

The Bandra-Worli Sea Link Bridge

By the time we reached back the boarders were famished, tired and exhausted from a wonderful outing. Many of them expressed their thanks to the Fathers, Brother and the masters for organizing this outing as they did have a great time. It was truly An Evening to Remember.
