The Principal welcomed the parents and introduced the Supervisor and the teachers to the parents. He then invited the Rector to begin with a prayer and speak to the parents. The Rector touched on the purpose of the PTA and that it was the interest of all present to give their best to the children. We have to work as a team to instill good values to our children.

The Rector also mentioned the theme of the year that would be taken up by the various school assemblies. The main theme for the year was YOUth TODAY! Some of the topics that would be touched on in the course of the year would be:
Youth Education; Youth Crime; Youth Vice (Drugs, Alcohol & Smoking); Youth Sports; Youth Media/Entertainment; Youth Violence; etc.

The Principal then touched on some matters of the school with regard to the Calendar, leave and the declaration forms and spoke to both section of parents about zero tolerance with regard to Violence.

He also instructed the parents about the voting for the class representatives of the PTA members and said that as per the rule of the government concerning the election of PTA members, there must be a 50-50 percent of males and females as representatives, which meant that the A sections would elect a male representative and the B sections would elect a female representatives.

The Prayer for Parents said by the Rector:

A PARENT’S PRAYER

Most loving Father, the example of parenthood, teach us what to give
and what to withhold. Show us when to reprove and when to praise.
Make us gentle and considerate yet firm and watchful.
Keep us from weak indulgence, or from great severity.
Give us the courage to be disliked sometimes by our children,
when we must do necessary things which are displeasing to their eyes.
Give us the imagination to enter into their world
in order to understand and guide them.
Give us all the virtues we need to lead them by word and example
in the path of righteousness. Amen.

Children Learn What They Live

If a child lives with criticism, he learns to condemn.
If a child lives with hostility, he learns to fight.
If a child lives with ridicule, he learns to be shy.
If a child lives with shame, he learns to feel guilty.
If a child lives with tolerance, he learns to be patient.
If a child lives with encouragement, he learns confidence.
If a child lives with praise, he learns to appreciate.
If a child lives with fairness, he learns justice.
If a child lives with security, he learns to have faith.
If a child lives with approval, he learns to like himself.
If a child lives with acceptance and friendship,
he learns to find love in the world.

NBA SKILLS CHALLENGE FOR YOUNGSTERS

On Friday 22nd June 2012 the NBA conducted an NBA Skills Challenge for all youngsters under the age of 12 born either 2001 /2002 on the Dominic Savio Basketball courts. The Challenge was open to all youngsters under this category and for boys and girls. About 800 children from various schools from around Mumbai participated in this event.

Those selected in the Maharashtra region would then go to Delhi to participate in the Challenge and those selected in Delhi would be taken to the USA to witness some of the NBA basketball games.

One could see more excitement on the faces of the parents rather than the children. It was a great event that showcased the talent of the young.

THIRTY SECONDS TO FAME

Saturday 16th June had an exciting evening for the boarders. We ushered in the birthday of Sowarav Soma a new boarder whose mum bought cakes and sweets for all the boarders.

After dinner we had 30 Seconds to Fame and it was a time where one discovered new talent and innovative ideas by the boarders. It was wonderful to see many of them prepare themselves for the event. They participated in it by either singing a song, dancing, playing an instrument: guitar, trumpet, keyboards or drums. A few had a couple of tricks up their sleeves. It was truly entertaining and a fun filled evening.

All had a great time and one could hear the splits of laughter every now and then.

Thanks Bro. Michael for organizing the evening and for Fr. Crispino and Sir Haydn for being the judges for the evening.
