ASH WEDNESDAY

The School had a mass on Wednesday 09th March as the Church celebrates Ash Wednesday in the season of Lent. Fr. Godfrey D'Souza the Rector was the main celebrant and Fr. Godfrey D'Sa, Fr. Crispino D'Souza and Fr. Edwin Colaco concelebrated at the Eucharist.

In the homily Fr. Godfrey explained to the students the meaning of the season and the significance of 40 as a number in the Bible. Noah's ark remained in the floods for 40 days. The Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years. Moses was with the Lord for 40 days before he came down with the Ten Commandments. The prophet Elisha was in the desert for 40 days before he began his ministry and Jesus went into the desert for 40 days before he too began his ministry.

By the imposition of ashes on Ash Wednesday the Church reminds all the faithful that we need to repent and turn away from our sins and that we are 'dust and unto dust we will return.'

Jesus tells us what we should do and how we should do things during this season. There are three important aspects that need to be kept in mind during this season: Giving Alms, without anyone noticing it; Praying quietly without being noticed; and Fasting without making a show that we are fasting.

May Christ walk with each one of us during this Lenten Journey and may we grow closer to Him.

PRIMARY CHORAL RECITATION

The III & IV standard Primary students of St. Dominic Savio High School had their Choral Recitation this morning. It was the last activity of the Primary Section for the year. The members of the jury for the competition were Ms. Prima Rebello and Mr. Alphonso D'Souza. We thank them for their valuable time given to our students.

The youngsters all did well in their Choral Recitation. They were divided into four groups: A,B,C & D. Fr. Godfrey D'Souza the Rector announced the winners of day. The C group won the first place; the A group won the second place; the B group won the third place and the D group won the consolation place.

We do need to congratulate the teachers who took the trouble to train the students in this choral recitation.

X STANDARD FAREWELL GET-TOGETHER

These are the some of the photographs of the Farewell we had for the X standard students on the 12th February from 1.00 pm onwards.

There was a prayer service and some of the out-going students gave their reflections on their school days and the fun times they had. The students at the beginning had to pass alighted candle around to one another.

Later on they all had little boats that they went and pinned on the bigger boat to launch out into the deep as they leave this alma mater and go out into the world. Most would carry beautiful and pleasant memories of their school days.
